How the upgrade works
Once a student completes 142 credits and the BS degree, they can study 20 more credits (3 core + 2 elective courses) to earn a PG Diploma, or add a further 20-credit project to earn an M.Tech from IIT Madras.

i. This upgrade option can be exercised any time after completing 106 credits, until completing 142 credits.
ii. The CGPA cutoff required in the BS program to apply for this upgrade is 8.00.
iii. Recommended for working professionals who cannot leave their jobs for a physical Masters program. Standalone students who joined after Std XII are strongly advised to instead write GATE and join a college for their Masters rather than take this option.

Note: this calculator tracks Foundation + Diploma + BSc Degree levels (up to 114 credits). The full 142-credit BS pathway includes additional specialization credits not modeled here, so treat the credit total above as a partial reference.

โ€ข Note: Grades P, F, U, W, I are NOT included in CGPA calculation
